Forested area growing around a large man-made impoundment. The area is managed by the WVDNR. The WMA's primary useage is the lake. Much of the forest observed so far has been successional tulip poplar. There are small patches of oak dominance on the drier aspects and tulip poplar on the moister aspects.;Third growth forest growing on a northwest facing midslope. The overstory is dominated by sugar maple and beech. There are several old barkless stumps in the plot. There is little if any S2-S1 regeneration. There are several herbs in the plot but they have all been heavily browsed and are low growing.

Small patch of sugar maple-beech forest. Plot was placed to minimize cover by tulip poplar. Similar to plots sampled at GARI. Here it seems more heavily browsed.
